Ricky Martin's Gay

So Puerto Rican-born singer Ricky Martin finally came out the closet and admitted he's gay. Ricky made this confession on his web site, saying he was inspired to be honest by his twin sons, born in 2008. At the the end of a long letter, talking about how he stayed silent because of his own fear and the advice of loved ones, he says: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man."

It's great that he can finally be honest with the public and stop living a lie but really, was this "news"? This is almost as bad as when Clay Aiken came out. Ricky was in the closet, but his closet was a very transparent one. Even when I told my best friend (who's clueless when it comes to celebrities and their mostly sordid lives) she asked me if he wasn't out years ago.
