Not Ready For Sex?

Dear Lisa Love,

I'm sixteen and I'm not a virgin. My boyfriend and I have been dating for about eight months now and I care about him a lot. He says he's ready for sex but I don't think he is. I think my sexual experience scares him and he wants to "catch up" to me. I'm afraid that if I reject him he'll think I don't love him anymore or he might dump me. What should I do?

Hi Toni,

I strongly advise you to talk this thing out with your boyfriend, just to be sure that you two don't get your lines crossed. There may be the possibility that he is ready to take that step, however if your assumption is right, it would be important to assure him that you are not rejecting him, but that u are willing to wait until the right time. One more thing, if this problem causes him to leave you HE ISN'T WORTH SLEEPING WITH IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
