Natural Remedies For Painful Periods
I had a friend that during her period she was no use to herself or anyone else. She had to take days off from school to recover from her period pains. There are painkillers that help ease the pain but you may be among those who prefer natural remedies.

Healthy Diet – This helps to relieve PMS symptoms such as pain and bloating. Foods rich in complex carbohydrates, for example, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables are great choices for consumption during one’s period. Be careful to avoid saturated fats, salts, sugar, alcohol and red meats. These accentuate mood swings so eating less of them and smaller portions of food will help minimise these effects.
Exercise – Though the inclination is to rest during your period, you should keep moving. Exercise releases endorphins which improves mood and relieves stress and prevents weight gain.
Herbs – Evening Primrose Oil, Chamomile, Jasmine, Rosemary, wild yam, raspberry tea, a cup of lemon balm and other herbs and herbal teas are calming and help relieve the pain associated with periods. Adding some ginger to your herbal teas is a great way to maximise pain relief.
Aromatherapy – Soothing lavender scents while receiving an abdominal massage is a great way to relieve the painful pain by relaxing your body, spirit and mind.
Magnesium, calcium and Vitamin E – Increasing the levels of these minerals will help balance the hormones and ease discomfort for women during their menstrual cycle. These minerals can be found in much of the food we eat or in supplements.
Reflexogy – The practice of applying pressure to the sole of your feet that corresponds to various parts of your body is a great pain relief technique. It encourages relaxation, relieves stress and reduces pain.

Certain herbal teas can help ease cramps.
