COSCAP Foundation To Honour Shontelle

It was announced at the Coscap Foundation’s press conference that this year’s Coscap Foundation Award of Excellence goes to Shontelle Layne!  Artist, producer, songwriter, Shontelle is one of the most internationally successful Coscap members in the history of the organization. She has had two platinum singles “T-Shirt” and “Impossible”. Shontelle has written successfully for local and regional artists as well as international artists such as Rihanna. She has written and collaborated with internationally renowned and multi award-winning songwriter, Diane Warren.

Presently signed to Universal Motown, Shontelle has charted in the U.K. and the U.S., has toured with Beyonce and Jason Derulo, had her music featured in major motion pictures as well as having a song selected for the YES WE CAN compilation album for Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. She achieved all of this at such a young age and in such a short period of time!

Shontelle will be present to receive her award at the Coscap Foundation’s 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala to be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Hilton Barbados.

Entertainment at the event will consist of stellar performances by Bajans in widely varied genres such as gospel, soca, rock, jazz, folk, hip hop, alternative, reggae, pop, and acoustic. All of the music will be Barbadian, featuring a mix of established artists along with some up and coming talent. Confirmed artists include Allison Norville Forde, John King, Simon Pipe, Kite, Blak Kla Soyl, Malissa Alanna, Vacant Head Space, Psilo, Sun Rokk, Arturo Tappin, iNDRANi, Alex M, Andre Woodvine, High Grade, Sarah Mark, Garvie and more!

Hosted by Vic Fernandes and Cassandra Crawford, the Gala will be a black tie event continuing the theme of the inaugural gala, “Our Music, Our Artists, Our Future”.

The COSCAP Foundation was set up to advance the personal well-being and professional development of the members of COSCAP and the music industry of Barbados.
