The climax of Crop Over* is in just a few days! Every week Kurama Magazine has been celebrating with a Crop Over Throwback of the week.
Woman By My Side

Peter Ram
This week's throwback is Bajan artiste Peter Ram's single 'Woman By My Side' from 2006. Peter "Ram” Wiggins has been in the Crop Over music scene for several years but his first major hit was 'The Pledge' also known as 'Blue, Yellow and Black'. For Crop Over 2006, he released 'Woman by My Side' the success of which resulted in him touring across the Caribbean, including the islands Trinidad, Antigua, Tortola, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada and Carriacou. The popularity of this track has also garnered a lot of attention in the international music scene.
It's our last week for throwbacks, so I'm throwing in a bonus track. Since she won the Sweet Soca crown once again this year, I decided to dig up from the past TC's biggest hit ever 'Wrong Name (Kim)'.
Check out our past Throwbacks for the season: Sak Passe, Roll It Gal, Girls Gone Wild, Tempted To Touch, and Carnival.
*Crop Over: The most anticipated festival in Barbados, which was founded to celebrate the end of the sugar cane harvest. It begins in June and comes to a climax with Grand Kadooment on the first Monday of August. Kadooment is a massive carnival parade with revellers dressed in vibrant, eye-catching costumes. Crop Over comprises of other exciting main events including Bridgetown Market, the calypso competitions Pic-o-de Crop and Party Monarch, and the variety show Cohobblopot.
