Page As Refuge

Uninspired yet again,

But somehow drawn to write

To inscribe upon this page my inner thoughts

Shall I converse with page?

The ever silent recipient of words, meanings, thoughts

Never once offering solace in words

But provides sanctuary in the act of receiving

In the lack of ridicule and scorn

It offers peace of mind and serenity

It is never torn down by the weight of thoughts

If ever it feels the burden of my pain

Silently it echoes reassurance of strength

Able to take from me all the depth of meaning

And hold

Treasuring, never collapsing as we tend to

Under the weight of friends, thoughts and emotions

A pure and unchallenged beneficiary of all I hold

But want to release

And cannot burden

It takes it all, etched into its skin for an eternity

Kept as perplexing vestiges of unknown nonsense

Somehow made important by longevity

It continues to hold

Meaning, thought, words

Without complaint, having no limit

Never waning from its predesigned purpose

Giving of self as if there is self to be given

Always and in all ways being a refuse

Is my page,

Where ever my pen may stroke

And begin to engrave and transcribe

There my page becomes my refuse

From all my mental woes

It takes and holds

Allowing me to release
